Emetophobia was featured on ITV's "This Morning" on Friday 17th March and told the story of Rhian Hiliar who has lost most of her teeth due to sucking mints.

From reading recent entries (yes, I read them all!) on the online Forum, a new chatroom has been set up to discuss emetophobia and offer opportunities for support and to exchange ideas and experiences.  This has been set up by a fellow sufferer and is not part of Gut Reaction or this website so, therefore, I cannot take responsibility for any issues which might arise from its use.

Does food control your life?

80% of the British population has some sort of controlling issue with food – making mealtimes a nightmare.

The BBC are making a brand new documentary series about people with psychological eating problems.

The six-part series for BBC3 will follow people whose relationship with food has a negative impact on their lives.

The show will not be looking at eating disorders such as anorexia or bulimia, but more typically at people who severely limit the types of food they eat.

So far, the sorts of people our research has found include a man who only eats spaghetti hoops on toast, a woman who liquidizes all her food, and a man who carries around a bottle of tomato ketchup and pours it all over every meal.

Over 5 weeks, they will work closely with leading health professionals to explore their relationship with food and attempt to find a realistic and lasting solution to their eating problems.

If you, or someone you know needs to come out about their food obsession, and would benefit from one to one help, please call Hannah on 0207 290 0530 or email hannahl@bettytv.co.uk

TV DOCUMENTARY ABOUT AGORAPHOBIA

Monkey Productions, an independent TV production company, is making a documentary series about agoraphobia for Channel 4 and is keen to talk to anyone who feels 'trapped' by agoraphobia about their experiences.

We will be working with Professor Paul Salkovskis from the Maudsley Hospital, a leading specialist in anxiety treatment, who will be heading an intensive treatment programme that will aim to help sufferers to get their lives back on track. The series will follow on from the success of 'The House of Obsessive Compulsives' shown on Channel 4 last year. If you didn't see it, these observational films depicted the lives of three people suffering from OCD who underwent treatment with Paul and his team: all three of them improved dramatically. We aim to produce similarly sensitive and sympathetic films about panic disorder with agoraphobia.

If you are over 18 years-old and want to share your experiences or find out more about the programme, contact Susan for a non-commital chat on 020 7749 3167 or email: susanb@monkeykingdom.com as soon as possible.
