Different types of medication can be used to treat the varying symptoms associated with emetophobia. In the case of NAUSEA-BIASED emetophobia, whereby there is an underlying nausea problem (as outlined on the emetophobia page), it would seem sensible to treat this with anti-nausea medication. If anxiety is at the root of emetophobia, and causing nausea as a result, then probably the best option is to treat the anxiety disorder. This can be via anti-depressants, particularly the Selective Serotonin Reuptake Inhibitors (SSRI's) or, for occasional use, possibly the benzodiazepine anxiolytics (tranquillisers). Please follow the links in the column to read more about each type of medication.
