ART THERAPY
is not a fancy name for lessons at art class but a form of psychological
treatment. It encourages patients to externalise feelings through art
(imagine what sort of scenes might be depicted by emetophobes!).
The idea is that a person will produce a drawing, painting or model and talk about that as an indirect means of discussing themselves and their feelings and bringing their unconscious to the forefront of their mind.
It can be especially useful for use with young children or when there are language barriers.
